Kenyan defenders have been in action over the past weekend. From Brian Mandela who helped his South African club Mamelodi Sundowns beat African Champions Al Ahly one nill in the CAF champions league to Eric Ouma Marcelo who played full Minutes for AIK as they won a cup tie by 4 goals margin.

Both players kept clean sheets for their teams. Now having said that, one top Kenyan defender has been off the limelight for quite sometime now. Joseph Okumu has not been in the highlights and this is due to an injury lay off. Fortunately he is is now back and even featured for his club.

Okumu came on for KAA Gent in the latter stages of the game. Joseph Okumu was introduced in the first minute of stoppage time as his 10-man club Gent beat Standard Liege by a solitary goal.

Okumu had missed 2 games for Gent due to the injury whereby Gent played against KAS Eupen and RFC Seraing.

This must be good news for both the club and fans of the player since his presence is a huge boost for them.
