Chelsea were very good as usual in the first half with the possession in their side. The defence line also couldn't allow the boys from Southampton to breath near chelsea goal. We saw a bit of changes to the squad that many fans are used of with chalobah coming on for the right wing back and Andrew Christensen being benched. Ben chiwel also replaced Marcus alonso with loftus cheek starting whereas jorgihno remaining in the bench. Chelsea also brought up Timo werner and Callum hodsoi Odoi to assist lukaku in the front three and according to the writer that first half chelsea deserved to win over two point five.
It was the cobham academy wonder product in the eighth minute that gave chelsea a lead with a very brilliant header. He reminded many that he is not a bench material by doing a dive header that left many talking. Trevoh chalobah is one of the few players that were retained by thomas tuchel to be part of chelsea squad. Chalobah remained very strong at the defence line despite the fact that he was the guy who scored.
Chelsea could have led by three goals to nil in the first half of it were not the ruling of the var which denied both lukaku and Timo werner the chance to continue with thier scoring in Stamford bridge and for the team. This infact led to thomas tuchel being yellow carded by his furious reactions after the var rulling. However the guys were brilliant with Ben chiwel showing his quality but the guy who attracted the attention of never being left bout again was Chalobah who deserved to be man of the match for me.
