Football guru Fabrizio Romano is convinced that Arsenal paid more than what was reported in the media for Ben White. In a recent report gathered by the journalist, he said that the €50 million transfer fee was not the real amount because according to his sources, Arsenal had spent over €70 Million in landing the defender in the summer.
“Arsenal have apparently paid double the valuation price for Ben White. My friend working in the EPL statistics department disclosed to me that at least €70 Million was cashed into Brighton’s account by Arsenal when the Gunners were signing Ben White. This is twice the defender’s valuation price by FIFA.”
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is expected to complete his 3 match suspension today (Suspension included all domestic cups and EPL matches) as the Gunners welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Emirates for the Carabao Cup tie. Xhaka who has been a true pivot in Arsenal’s midfield will be in contention to start against Tottenham ahead of Sambi Lokonga and Mohammed Elneny.
True to this, Arsenal fans expect a more defensive approach in the match against Tottenham because Xhaka usually drops back as a left-back defender when Tierney pushes forward. If paired with Lokonga or Partey, then Arsenal will be more balanced because the two are more offensive-minded than Granit Xhaka. In a game that will test the physicality of the players, Arsenal are expected to go full-on in the squad selection.
Arsenal are slowly rediscovering their form in the English Premier League and the Carabao Cup, and that is thanks to the commendable work of Mikel Arteta in the last couple of weeks. Arteta is however not particularly concerned with the performance on the pitch, but instead, he is very interested in the training of the players and how they condition their bodies. It is said that Arteta plans to maintain a 100% fitness streak in the team so that he has more options to choose from as the league progresses.
