The Football Association (FA) have confirmed to be investigating a suspicious routine of an Arsenal player receiving a yellow card during Premier League games this season.
The yellow card is being linked to a betting pattern. It is alleged the senior player usually receive yellow cards in a certain worrying pattern. According to ESPN, the matter was brought up by bookmakers who alerted the FA to unusual amounts of money being staked on a member of Arsenal's team to be booked.
Arsenal are said to be aware of the situation. The player's identity has not been revealed in public due to privacy matter.
FA's enquiries are initially based on betting patterns and not any individual player's conduct. The enquiry will be made to try to uncover any form of pre-determined match events and if any link in the pattern is traced to bet fixing, an appropriate action against the parties involved will be taken.
