Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has opened up to say what went wrong in a humiliating 6-3 defeat.
Martial was frustrated and he felt that his side were sluggish against the efficient Manchester City. He told Canal+:
“ I would have preferred not to score and win this game, but it's always good to return to the field and score.
We are extremely dissatisfied. That is not what we intended, but this is the outcome, and we will do everything we can to return for the next game.
We made a poor start to the game, and they capitalized on their opportunities. It's complicated, but it is what it is, and we will do everything we can to prepare for the next match.”
The France international came on as a substitute and scored twice for Manchester United. Martial has missed the majority of this season's opening games due to hamstring and Achilles injuries, and he has only made two substitute appearances.
United travel to Cyprus on Thursday for their third Europa League group stage game, and then face Everton on Sunday evening, and Martial is grateful to be fit for both of these games.
