Since the beginning of the Olympic games a few weeks ago, Kenya has been hunting a gold medal especially in through their athletes with no success.The first gold medal was expected in the men's 3000 metres steeplechase but Kenyans ended up settling with a bronze medal in the event.
Hopes of bagging gold in women's 5000 metres final went short after Kenyas favorite Hellen Obiri finished in the second place to win a silver medals.
It is now goodnews to Kenyan fans after winning the much awaited gold medal through Emmanuel Korir in the men's 800 metres final.Korir won the race in a time of 1:45.06 ahead of his kenyan counterpart Ferguson Rotich who clocked 1:45.23 to win the silver medal after a second place finish.
Earlier on the same day, Hyvin Kiyeng had clocked 9:05.39 to win a bronze medal for Kenya in the women's 3000 metres steeplechase.Kenya now has a total of 5 medals (1 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze) and the such for more still continues through the remaining races.
