AK president gives Kenyans green light concerning under-20 championship

The world under-20 championships dates will be known next month. The world event was earlier scheduled to be done on July 7th to 12th at Moi international sports center Kasarani, before it was postponed because of corona virus in the country. 

According to Athletics Kenya president Jackson Tuwei, the event will be probably held in 2021."We have been engaging with the world athletics and by the end of next month July , we will have come up with the new dates set for the event. 

The athletics Kenya president was speaking when he was presiding over food donations to boost athletes due to the corona effects. The pandemic halted athletic activities in the country. Kenya has been doing incredibly well in athletics. This is in as they won the 2018 under-20 athletics championships.

The AK president believes that Kenya still has got a chance to do well in the championship despite the unpreparedness athletes have. The ministry of health banned all sports activities in the country due to the outbreak of Covid19. Recently the government allowed athletes to perform their training while strictly following the measures laid down by the government. This include wearing of mask and maintaining social distance.
