Senegal has joined five time world champions Brazil, title holders France, Ronaldos Portugal and the Holand team in the qualified teams to knockout stages. Following a 2-1 win against Ecuador on Tuesday evening, Senegal finished second with just one point behind the group champions Netherlands. Thus, they became the first African team to qualify for the knockout stages in the 2022 Qatar edition.
Senegal played a very fascinating game that game their fans morale as the play went on. Their first goal was scored by Ismaila sarr from the penalty spot in the 45th minute before moses caicedo equalised in the 67th minute. Three minutes later Kalidou Koulibaly scored to restore the lead for the Teranga lions.
The teranga lions will now have to be on the show on 4th against group B winners to find a chance to the quarter finals. Though they are missing a key player, Sadio Mane, reports have claimed that they are confident to reach at least semis.
