Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga were brilliant throughout. Showed a lot of energy and desire to go forward and keep the ball moving. This is what happens when you pass forward and not play backwards all the time which is what Tierney and Odegaard do.
Albert Sambi Lokonga turned 22 yesterday. He's played around a hundred professional games. He has so much potential that it's scary to think just how good he will become.
Sambi Lokonga is a decent midfielder, neat and tidy and can thread passes. Meanwhile Arsenal players have managed to rile up and get under the skin of their former goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Sambi lokonga was more central than his past two appearances ,that gives him enough space to operate ,more confident and efficient ,does it well than playing him as a coverup left back when Tierney moves up.
Nuno Tavares is a very able deputy to Tierney. Last season when Tierney was unavailable we missed him but we can’t say the same about that tonight Tavares. For his role and age and the money we paid we have to give Edu and Arteta credit.
Nuno Tavares ran further than any other player in the game tonight (11.73 km) and also posted the fastest speed at 34.7km. Only Emile Smith Rowe made more sprints than the Gunners full back.
Nuno Tavares has been gifted with pure athleticism, speed and intensity. He times his wide shifts so well, the way he moves inside between the lines without hesitation and attacks open channels is so refreshing to see. I can see him getting transformed into an elite winger.
That half was Nuno Tavares’ best in an Arsenal shirt. He caused constant problems by taking up the spaces left out wide by Villa’s system. He still needs to work on receiving the ball smoothly, because his first touch has lacked once or twice, but physically he’s a serious force.
