Arsenal won their second game of the season against Burnley at Turf Moor, thanks to a goal from Odegaard in the 30th minute. Although Odergaard has received the most attention, there is one player who stepped up and unquestionably demonstrated his class with an impressive performance worthy of a man of the match award: Gabriel Maghales.
Gabriel, Arteta's marquee signing for 2020, was so good that he topped the ratings of some of the player rating raters who rated the players in the Arsenal vs. Burnley game. Gabriel's performance against Burnley was rated an 8/10 by The Standard, a UK-based publication, with their explanation for that as follows, "A big game from the Brazilian, who seemed to relish the battle of playing Burnley. I made one huge tackle in the first-half to deny Ashley Barnes. " To confirm what the Standard claimed, Football London, also a London-based publication, also awarded Gabriel's an 8/10 for his perfomance, with their candid explanation, "A dominant display from the Brazilian who dealt well with the physical threat posed by Burnley's two strikers. Recognized when to engage and when to drop off, as he looks to have grown into more of a leader over the summer break. "
Gabriel has stepped up his performance, showing his class and giving Arsenal fans a ray of hope for their future prosperity, despite Ben White being the Arsenal defender who was tipped to be grabbing the headlines from Arsenal's defense.
