Fresh details into Nick Mwendwa's arrest

Developing news has it that Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa will spend the rest of his weekend under custody behind bars after DCI officers arrested him on Friday 12 November.

National Police Service spokesperson Bruno Shioso confirmed the arrest, with Mwendwa spending Friday afternoon at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu road where he was being grilled by detectives.

"He (Nick Mwendwa) is at Mazingira House where our detectives are interrogating him. We shall release a statement later," Shioso said.

Reports has it that Mwendwa is being grilled on how the federation spent millions advanced by Government over the past years. Mwendwa will be taken to court on Monday where he will be questioned specifically on how FKF spent Ksh 430 million advanced to the federation in 2016 and Ksh244 million the state extended to the federation to prepare Harambee Stars for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations that was hosted by Egypt.

Mwendwa will also account for the 21.3 million given for the payment of coaches during the Afcon run up in 2019.

It should be remembered that sports cabinet secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded the Federation and formed a 15 member caretaker committee.
