Southampton got a penalty in the 60th minute after Ben Chilwell took down Tino Livramento inside the box. James Ward-Prowse sent Eduardo Mendy the wrong way to equalize for Southampton. James Ward-Prowse was then sent off in the 75th minute after he made a horrible tackle on Jorginho.
Timo Werner then put Chelsea in front in the 84th minute after a lovely ball by Ross Barkley found Cesar Azplicueta who set it up for Werner. The Blues then added another goal through Ben Chilwell to make it a 3-1 win.
Timo Werner was awarded the man-of-the-match award after his display against Southampton. Werner had a goal to his name and even saw his other goal ruled out.
