On their way to the Bronze medal, Shujaa as they are commonly referred to beat Chile in their opening match by 36 to 5.
Kenya beat Germany in the quarter-finals by 24 points to 17, before facing South Africa in the Semi-finals. Shujaa proved too slow for the South Africans, who kept on capitalising on the inability by the Kenyan team to hold on to the kick-offs and re-starts, all the while scoring off the Kenyans' mistakes. The game ended 33-5 in favour of the South Africans.
Kenya then faced Canada in the third placed final and won by 33-14, ensuring that they clinched the bronze medal. With that victory, Kenya completed the 2021 HSBC World series at position three, behind Great Britain and series leaders South Africa.
