Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy breaks record after winning prestigious award at FIFA Best ceremony

Celebrations is high at both Chelsea and Senegal players camp after goalkeeper Edouard Mendy rips big at the FIFA Best awards ceremony. For the first time, the event has been held virtually at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich Switzerland led by President Infantino Perez.

The Chelsea first choice keeper becomes the first African and second blues player to win the Best goalkeeper of the year. Mendy beaten both German Manuel Neur and Italian Donnaruma.

He is having a good season winning the champions league keeping 37 clean sheets, conceding 46 goals in 69 games. Edouard also won the Uefa goalkeeper of the season. The Senegalese have been the best signing so far for the London club after his 22 million pounds move from French based club Rennes.

The player is currently at the African cup of Nations, though he suffered a set back due to COVID-19, and he is yet to feature at the tournament.
