Sofapaka FC Beat Nairobi City Stars Despite Having Three Substitutes

2009 FKF Premier League champions Sofapaka beat City Stars 3-1 today in their opening match of the seson.

Sofapaka who had only three substitutes put their off the pitch woes aside and focused on the match which resulted in Batoto Ba Mungu humbling Nairobi City Stars 3-1 at the Wundanyi Stadium.

The former champions have been through difficult moments due to the transfer embargo imposed by FIFA and lack of finances recently.

The club has acquired the services of Dan Guya from Bandari, Hansel Ochieng and Said Tsuma from AFC Leopards and a couple of young players who cannot play but only train with the 'old' players. Further, a number of players also quit the club to find greener pastures.

Sofapaka FC goals came from Joe Waithira in the 40th and 90th minute and Lawrence Juma in the 82nd minute from the penalty spot with Nairobi City Stars sole goal netted by Ouma in the 87th minute.
