17-year-old Rachel Achieng Will be Making Her Debut in the Commonwealth Games- Weightlifting

Along with four other Kenyans, Rachel Achieng, 17, will be competing for the first time in the weightlifting division at the Commonwealth Games.

Achieng won three gold medals in the 2017 Africa Youth and Junior Championships in Uganda when he was just 11 years old.

She earned a bronze medal at the Senior Weightlifting Championships in Nairobi in 2019 that helped her earn a spot in the Commonwealth Games in 2022.Winny Langat, Maurice Aromo, Benjamin Osiemo, and Anthony Masinde are her colleagues.

Coach of the weightlifting squad Douglas Locho is optimistic about Achieng's performance in her first competition

The team's coach also disclosed that Winny Langat, a triple silver medallist from the All Africa Games, was the 17-year-coach old's while the squad was in Nairobi for training.

The coach said, "She was staying with Winny Langat (triple silver medallist at the All Africa Games), who was mentoring and advising her on how to prepare for the competition, while we were in the camp in Kasarani.
