What do Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich have in common? They both wear red and blue and have dominated football. But apart from this there is no direct link between them. So why does Lionel Messi have a shrine in Bayern Munich museum.
Bayern Munich museum is one of the finest tours in the world. It contains a comprehensive journey through their rich history. And all the trophies and jerseys you can feast your eyes on.
Including a very special one, Barcelona football club number ten from Lionel Messi. The 2012 to 2013 kit with Lionel Messi signature is found in the museum. Actually it was a gift to Bayern Munich legend Gerd Muller. In 2012 Lionel Messi broke a record that stands to this day.
He scored ninety one goals in a calendar year an outstanding feat. In doing so he surpassed Mullers eighty five goal mark of 1972. As a sign of respect and admiration Lionel Messi sent him his shirt.
Muller was happy and he decided to lent the Lionel Messi shirt to Bayern Munich to showcase it in its museum. It remains the only item in the museum that is not related to Bayern Munich. Gerd Muller passed away in August 2021 at the age of seventy five. May his soul rest in peace.
