Reading vs Brentford

Reading picked up a draw at Stoke on Saturday, stretching their unbeaten run to seven games. While that’s a solid record, it can’t match Brentford’s 20-game run without a Championship defeat.

The visitors head here in fine form, winning seven of their last eight league games. They’ve won three on the bounce in the Championship, scoring 14 times in that run.

Reading have lost their last three league games against Brentford. On top of that, the Bees have won five of their last seven away league games against Reading. We have little faith in Reading improving that record this week. Prediction: Brentford to win 3-1 at full time.

Sheffield united vs Bristol city



Sheffield United were narrowly edged out by Chelsea on Sunday, but the Blades have enjoyed the start of 2021 much more than the end of last year.

Having failed to win a game in the final four months of the year, the Blades have won six of their last eight games. That revival started in the cup, where they’ve seen off Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle.

That improvement looks set to continue here, as Bristol City come into the clash having lost six of their last seven away matches. The Robins are in dire Championship form, with a 2-0 defeat to Cardiff on Saturday their third consecutive defeat. Sheffield united to win 2-1 at full time
