Following the expiration of his four-year ban for an Anti-Doping Rule Violation, 2008 Olympic Games 1,500m champion Asbel Kiprop plans to return to the track at the National Police Championships in April this year. Asbel's suspension ends today, and the lanky officer has warned that he is eager for action, as if he never left.
The three-time world 1500m champion has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, but insists it's all water under the bridge as he plots a return to the top. However, Asbel insists that local races will be critical if he is to compete at the international level for the first time since the athletics Integrity Unit dropped the bombshell in 2018. "Right now, many people don't trust me, but I'm hoping to start from scratch, with the fundamentals that helped me become a world champion." "I started from scratch, and that's where I'd like to start again," Asbel explained.
