What You Should Know About Doris Petra, The Lady Taking Over Nick Mwendwa's FKF Position

After FKF President Nick Mwendwa resigned from his post, his deputy Doris Petra is going to take over his position. Although she has been working under Mwendwa for years, very little is known about her and very few people know her.

It will be an historical event given that no woman has in the past been the head of the football governing body. The fearless lady has been serving as the vice president to Mwendwa since 2006. She is a mother of six and her great contributions are enough to support her being the next President of the body.

Petra has a diploma in personnel and Human resources. She used to work for Kenya Posts and Telecommunication which is currently known as Telkom but was fired in 2005. She worked as an untrained teacher at Thur Dibuoro Secondary and it is here that her passion for football grew.

She has helped plan many sporting activities around the country including the establishment of league structures in the Rift valley region. In 2013 she was awarded for her hard work by the Kenya Premier League.

Before becoming the first female vice president, Petra worked with former FKF president Sam Nyamweya. One thing she noted in her work is that working in the company of men is a difficult thing.

"Working with men is not easy therefore you have to accept to work with them without infringing their egos. You have to be good at what you do without excuses and strive to remain on top of your game," Doris said in a past interview.

Kenyans are now waiting to see the changes she will bring to the football sector.
