Belgium have been eliminated officially from the World cup after securing a draw against Croatia. Belgium had hoped to win in this match if they were to proceed to the round of sixteen. Croatia as well wanted either a draw or a win for them to qualify. Both teams played their hearts out. In the first half Croatia gota penalty and hoped to take the lead but this was never to be as it was overturned by VAR. The game went level 0:0 at halftime.
Romelu Lukaku was then brought in as a second half substitute for Dries Mertens. He however had a disappointing match as he missed two quick open chances to take Belgium ahead. This will be one of the painful misses for him in a long time. Despite Eden Hazard, Yourie Tielemans and other stars being brought in, Canada stayed put and secured the 0:0 draw. Croatia now proceeds alongside Morocco.
