Romelu Lukaku has returned to Inter Milan for the season. Inter will pay Chelsea £6.9 million in total, plus a £3.5 million add-on fee. He has agreed to a 30% pay cut in order to satisfy his loan agreement with San Siro. Inter have confirmed that Lukaku would wear Shirt No.90 in his return to Serie A this season.
"I'm really glad to be back," said Lukaku. I kept in touch with the coach during the previous season because of the support of the supporters and my players as well as the chance to work with him. I believe the team is responding well to the coach. I want to help out and be a good member of this club”.
The Belgian forward moved from San Siro to Stamford Bridge for a record sum last season, but he had trouble adjusting to life in London. Despite his difficulties in England, Lukaku ended the season as the season's top scorer with 15 goals. He scored 8 goals in 26 Premier League matches.
Steven Zhang, the president of Inter, is optimistic that Lukaku will contribute to their offensive success.
So we'll score a bunch of goals, right? In a video uploaded on Inter's social media pages, Zhang questioned Lukaku.
We're here to do that, the striker answered.
