Colombian midfielder Andres Balanta has died after collapsing during a training session of Club Atletico Tucuman, the Argentina first division club officials have announced ESPN understand.

Balanta, just 22 years old, passed away on arrival at a hospital in San Miguel de Tucuman Balanta, 22, collapsed during his team's first practice after the holiday break and was taken to a hospital in San Miguel de Tucuman, where he died after resuscitation maneuvers for more than 40 minutes didn't work.

Balanta had joined Atletico in July of 2021 from Deportivo Cali, the Colombian club where he began his career in 2019.
The youngster played for the Colombia national team in the 2019 Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia. The football fraternity is saddened by his death following the rising cases of deaths of youngsters in the recent past. However, scientists are working hard to establish the real cause of sudden deaths during training sessions.
