Camping in France during Africa cup of nations has brought fortune to the harambee stars players

Camping in France during the preparation of Africa cup of nations has promoted Kenyan football.

Kenya national football team harambee stars prepared for the Africa cup of nations held in Egypt in Paris France .The team had a friendly match against DR Congo, securing a 1.0 win. The match was one of the best we have ever seen for the national side.

Under the then coach Adel Amrouche, the players did their best in the tournament securing a one win and two losses. That one is history.

Let's focus on the positives that emanated from the team's camp. The players were able to market themselves abroad. One good example is Patrick Matasi who has been linked to French league two side Dunkerque FC. It is believed that the club scouted him during the Africa cup of nations preparation. Matasi was an outstanding player for the national team.

He was rated among the best goalkeepers of the tournament. Apart from Matasi, Aboud Omar secured a move to the Greek side Ionikos fc. Timbe secured a move to Reading FC while Okumu moved from USA to Sweden. However, Okumu has joined Belgium topflight side KAA Gent.

Such exposure has really marketed our players in Europe and Asia. We hope football Kenya Federation will organise more friendly matches.
