Thomas Tuchel is reported to be keen in bringing a new central defender to the club in the summer transfer window as he does not feel his current crop of centre backs are good enough to be deployed in a back four.
According to various media outlets,Tuchel is targeting German and Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule as a potential addition to his squad should the club should their owner Roman Abramovich back him with the funds.
This could however mean that some first team players will have to be sold to free up the wage bill and create a manageable squad and one of the players the club is looking to offload is Fikayo Tomori.
The young central defender has been a success for italian giants AC Milan and they are the favorites to sign the player permanently from the Stamford bridge club.
AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli who is a big admirer of the young English defender has now reiterated their desire to keep the player beyond his current loan deal as he has been exceptional since moving to Italy.
“We want to buy Tomori on a permanent deal from Chelsea, our intention is clear and also Fikayo’s decision staying at Milan. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season”.Stefano said.
Chelsea are also keen to extend the contract of Brazilian central defender Thiago Silva and his potential stay at the club means Fikayo faces an uphill task to be a first team regular thus a move away suits both parties.
