Referee Decisions That left Fans across the world sad

Referees are known to make mistakes but some of them are hard to forget. So what are some of the referee decisions that left fans sad?

1. Kieran Gibbs handed red card instead of Chamberlain.

Many fans won't forget this day especially Arsenal fans. Chelsea were leading by two goals before the incident occurred.

Things got worst for Arsenal when Oxlade-Chamberlain saved Hazard's shot with his hand. This led to penalty for Chelsea.

Referee Marriner produced a red card but to our surprise it was Kieran Gibbs who was the victim. Chamberlain admitted his mistake but the referee had made his final decision. Gibbs left the pitch to the surprise of many.

It was not after the game that the FA found out the mistake that Andre Marriner had made during the match. This remains one of the referee decision that left many fans surprised.

2. De Jong Challenge on Alonso that went unpunished, World Cup 2010.

Many would have expected Netherlands De Jong to be shown red card for his challenge on Xabi Alonso but the referee didn't.

It was in the 2010 World Cup final officiated by Howardd Web that the incident occurred. De Jong made a high Kung-Fu tackle on Alonso's chest but the referee never showed a red card. De Jong only received a yellow card.

This was a surprise to many fans.

3. Chelsea's exit from Champions League due to poor referee decisions, 2008/2009.

Many Chelsea fans won't forget this Champions League semi final soon.
