Gavi to be a football star

Following the teenager's first World Cup goal in Spain's 7-0 rout of Costa Rica on Yesterday, Luis Enrique expressed his belief that Gavi would eventually become one of the "stars of football".

With 16 minutes left in the game, Gavi scored the fifth goal, latching onto a ball from Alvaro Morata and firing against the right post.

He became the youngest player to score in a World Cup final for any nation since Pele (17y 249d) for Brazil in the 1958 final against Sweden when he did it at the age of 18 years and 110 days.

After La Roja's Group E victory, head coach Luis Enrique was quizzed on the potential of the Barcelona midfielder.

I'm not sure, but I hope he keeps improving and tries to be active both with and without the ball, the manager stated.

"Being 18 now makes him very unusual and special, but he also has the temperament of a seasoned player and because he is a boy, it is fun to play with the boy. Although he occasionally requires some calm, we are really delighted to have him on the team."

"I believe he will become one of the football stars." The manager claimed.

Spain's second game in Qatar will take place on Sunday against Germany, who were unexpectedly defeated 2-1 by Japan earlier on Wednesday.
