Nicolas Anelka was one of the best finishers during his professional football days. He played for a number of big European clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG and Liverpool. He also was a key figure in the French national team where he made 69 appearances and managed to score 14 goals from 1998 to 2010 when he retired from international football.
Anelka got attention of the football world when he was just 17 years old and playing for PSG in 1997. He was signed by Arsenal the same year where he quickly got into Arsene Wenger's first eleven squad. His impressive performance helped Arsenal win a double of the English Premier League title and FA Cup in one season and he was named PFA Young Player of the Year. He joined Real Madrid in 1999 but didn't make it as it was expected. He however won the UEFA Champions League title with Real Madrid. He only made 19 appearances and scored 2 goals before leaving for PSG the following year; 2000.
He played two years with the French giants and was loaned to Liverpool before finally being sold to Manchester City in 2002. He spent three years with the Citizens and scored 37 goals in 89 appearances. He was released to Turkish club Fenerbahce in 2005 where he won the Super Lig with them the same year. The following year, he was sold to English club, Bolton Wanderers. He was signed by Chelsea in 2008 and played up to 2012 winning several titles.
He joined Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua from Chelsea but was loaned to Juventus where he won the Serie A title. In 2013, he was released by Shanghai Shenhua to West Brom where he only played one years scoring two goals in 12 appearances. He joined Mumbai FC in 2014 but only made 13 appearances scoring two goals. He served as a player-manager while he was at Mumbai FC.

After leaving Mumbai in 2015, he retired from professional football. He however came back as an advisor and talent scout at Dutch Eredivisie side, Roda JC. In 2017, he joined Lille as coach of the academy strikers. In February 2021, the currently 42 years old was appointed the sporting director of Hyeres FC who plays in the fourth tier of the French football where he has recently been working.
