Jurgen Klopp "Warns" Mikel Arteta He'll Need To Battle Him For Midfielder Services

Ismail Bennacer was sold to Empoli in 2017 after failing to break into Arsenal's starting lineup. The Algerian went on to make a name for himself on the Italian side, and after two years, Serie A giants AC Milan swooped in to sign him. AC Milan would love to keep Bennacer long term; he's so important that he'd already made 21 appearances for AC Milan before the World Cup break; but doing so will be difficult.

The 24-year-old's contract with AC Milan expires in 2024; Arsenal is aware of this, and according to Sport Witness, they have made contact in an attempt to entice their prodigal son back home. His contract situation could help them in their pursuit of luring him away from AC Milan. Of course, AC Milan will do all they can to convince him to extend his deal; however, even if they decide to sell, Arteta will have to compete with Jurgen Klopp for his signature, as Liverpool are also interested, according to HITC.

HITC writes, "The Reds need additions in midfield, especially with loan signing Arthur Melo suffering an injury that is likely to keep him out until the new year. If contract talks continue to reach an impasse, it could see Liverpool make a move for him." With Liverpool in the picture, Arsenal should brace for a fight even though Bennacer could be available for a bargain.
