Angela Tanui Smashes Marathon Record In Amsterdam Marathon

Kenya athlete Angela Tanui has made her country proud by breaking the course record to win Amsterdam Marathon,Netherlands

She checked in at 2 hours 17 minutes 57 seconds on Sunday, October 17. 

Her partner, Maureen Chepkemoi came in runner up and fell three minutes short of securing the title (2:20:18) while 

Ethiopia's Haven Hailu checked in at 2 hours 20 minutes and 19 seconds. 

The Kenyan competitor devoted her success to fallen partner Agnes Tirop who kicked the bucket on Wednesday, October 13. The 25-year-old competitor had set broken the ladies just ten-kilometer street race record set in Germany in September 2020 and was a motivation for some competitors. 

For the men's race, Kenya's Bernard Koech figured out how to secure a silver award after Ethiopia's Tamirat Tola. 

Further, in another race, Elisha Rotich additionally left a mark on the world subsequent to crushing Kenenisa Bekele's record to win the 2021 Paris Marathon. He checked in at 2 hours 4 minutes and 18 seconds, beating the record set by Bekele in 2014 of 2 hours 5 minutes and 4 seconds. 

Ethiopia's Hailelmaryam Kiros secured runner up in 2:04:42 while Kenya's Hillary Kipsambu came in third at 2:04:45
