BREAKING: Ex-Chelsea Striker Announces His Retirement From Football

After 16 years of professional football, former Chelsea and Premier League star striker, Demba Ba has finally announced his retirement from the game, with him choosing to hang his boots following his latest spell with Swiss Super League club, FC Lugano in a surprising decision.

Confirming the move through his official twitter handle, part of the statement from the 36 year old prolific scorer read: "It is with a heart filled with greatfuness that I announce the end of my playing career. What a wonderful journey it has been. Besides all sweat and tears I have faced.

"Football has given me so many beautiful emotions. From the passion of the fans and the noise coming from the stands after every goal to the connection with my teammates on and off the field. This will forever remain in my head and heart..."

Joining the Blues from Premier League side, Newcastle United, Demba Ba had a promising spell at the Stamford Bridge between 2013 and 2014, where he went on to make 33 appearances and hence, managing to chip in 7 goals besides proving to be a real nightmare to opposition defenders.

Meanwhile, the Senegalese international have had a number of fantastic spells with different clubs across Europe including Istanbul Basaksehir, Shanghai Shenhua, FC Besiktas, West Ham United among other clubs.
