Eliud Kipchoge broke his own record on Sunday after winning the Berlin Marathon race with a time of 2:01:09 to cut down half the time of his previous win in Germany. This is what Eliud Kipchoge said after winning the marathon.
"I am happy with my preparation and I think I was so fast because of the teamwork," Kipchoge said. "Everything is down to teamwork.
According to Kenya.co.ke, Eliud Kipchoge will take home Ksh 3 million for winning the race,Ksh 6.8 million for breaking the world record and Ksh 4.1 million for a time bonus.
His runner-up,Mark Korir, will take home Ksh 1.37 million for setting a time record of 2:05:58. Tigisa Asseffa of Ethiopia, on the other hand, will receive Ksh 2.5 million for winning the race and Ksh 3.5 million for the time bonus.While Kenya's Wanjiru will take home Ksh 1.17 million.
