Chelsea were stunned by Real Madrid at Alfredo Stadium after being held into a 1-1 draw to put their qualification hopes in balance. Chelsea opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Christian Pulisic who was assisted by Antonio Rudiger to gift the visitors an early 1-0 lead. Real Madrid equalized 14 minutes later through their topscorer Karim Benzema who was assisted to force a 1-1 draw at halftime.
Real Madrid brought on former Chelsea forward Eden Hazard in the second half alongside Odriozola, Asensio & Rodrygo as substitutes for Junior Vinicius , Carvajal, Marcelo & Benzema to salvage a victory for the hosts but the all failed. Real Madrid received 5 yellow cards through Vinicius Junior, Verane, Odriozola, Tony Kroos & Marcelo while only Pulisic was shown a yellow from Chelsea side. Chelsea brought on Ziyech, Havertz & Reece James for Pulisic, Timo Werner & Azipilicueta, who successfully held on for a vital away goal ahead of their second leg fixture next week at Stamford Bridge. After the 1-1 draw, Chelsea will play Fulham this weekend & then Manchester City next in the Premier League while Real Madrid will play Osasuna this weekend & then Sevilla next in Laliga.
