How Arteta's Anticipated Tactical Approach Could Be Crucial To Beating Manchester United Tonight

Much has been said about how Arteta should approach today's Manchester United game in order to hurt United at Old Trafford and go 4-unbeaten against United as Arsenal manager. The one constant among all of the suggestions is that Arsenal must go all out on offense, not just through their forward players but also through their full backs.

Giving Manchester United forwards a bad night should be on Arsenal's to-do list, but with Arsenal's poor offensive record, Arteta's full backs of the night will need to be flying through the wing as they did against Newcastle. Tavares and Tomiyasu were instrumental in Newcastle's 2-0 victory, both assisting in the two goals scored and basically making the game flow due to their willingness to take risks.

Arteta's wingbacks must be encouraged to move forward and take on Manchester United's full backs. As the wingbacks do so, Tomiyasu, Tierney, and Tavares must take risks and join the attack, as they did in the Newcastle game.

However, as much as we want Arsenal fullbacks to fly, we also want them to be defensively alert. A clean sheet against Manchester United would be an ideal way for Arteta to demonstrate that he has recovered from the Liverpool thrashing and that his team is capable of humiliating a top-six team.
