We are almost approaching the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup which will kick off on November 21 in Qatar. However, several players have started retiring from international football and this means they will not feature in the competition.
The latest star to retire from international football is FC Barcelona Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The 32-year old announced his international football retirement after playing 72 games for Gabon and scoring 30 goals from those appearances.
Gabon's Football Federation said it received a letter from Aubameyang informing them about the decision. Aubameyang's last tournament with Gabon was the African Cup of Nations 2021 in Cameroon which ended in a disappointment as he withdrew from the squad without playing a single game after he was diagnosed with heart lessions.
