Arsenal started the season very low despite not playing European competitions, loosing all their three first games and not scoring even a single goal. This was may be due to injuries and Covid-19 issues. A change in the form was therefore needed as soon as possible as the league was taking shape with Arsenal at the last position.
Mikel Arteta made Five summer signings to boost his side with the incoming players being 23 years and below. It was therefore going to be a demanding season for Mikel Arteta who saw his side miss out on Champions league for the fourth time in a row.
After all the additions and players returning from injuries and recovering from Covid-19 as well, Arsenal have been a better team progressing from bottom to settling at a place in top four winning some important games along the way. With that impressive form they have showd, here are three Areas Arteta have improved to ensure a top four place.
1. Improving back five
Arsenal brought in a new goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale as a cover up for Bend Leno but the England International grabbed his chance from day one and has been better making impressive save and keeping 12 clean sheets dominating Leno as first choice goalkeeper. Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu has been good forming a strong back four together with Gabriel Magalhaes and Kieran Tierney. Good communication at back five has prevented Arsenal from conceding alot of goals this season.
2. Unity in the team
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has brought a strong Cohesion amongst players. With the good understanding in the team, the players have been able to enjoy winning together and suffer together at difficult moments, with Mikel installing Arsenal DNA in to new players and seeing his young academy graduates stepping up in big games, his seen his side proving doubters wrong.
3. Winning Mentality
A winning mentality is all that was needed for Arsenal to get themselves from the bottom table, they have kept that form winning against Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham in their recent games. With Four games remaining until the end of the season, Gunners are battling for top four with Tottenham having a two point advantage over the Lily whites.
