Tottenham vs Liverpool
A dramatic Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg winner at Marseille in their final UCL group fixture not only saw Tottenham qualify for the knockout round at the expense of the hosts, but they also topped Group E while at it. That win followed a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth at the weekend that stopped a three-game winless streak in the league for the White Lillies. They now face a tough trip to Anfield as they seek to tighten their grip on the 3rd place on the log which has looked wobbly in the last few weeks.
Liverpool have blown hot and cold and that basically explains why they are 9th on the table when most pundits had them down as one of the favorites to win it all following the photo-finish with Man City last season. After inflicting the first loss of the season to Man City, they did the unthinkable by losing to bottom-placed Nottingham and relegation candidates Leeds. They however brought their A-game in midweek to again inflict the first loss of the season to Napoli ti underline the potent threat they still possess despite their unenviable position on the table.
Tottenham have been less than stellar in recent weeks. Despite winning the last two games to stop their slide down the slippery slope, they conceded first in both games. Liverpool have dominated this fixture in recent years and have shown their ability to flick the switch in their play when they absolutely want to. The win over Napoli is certainly a momentum booster. A tough game is expected but we feel they will have the early initiative here we feel will see them break the deadlock.
