Kakamega Governor Delivers Good News to National Rugby Champions

Koyonzo defeated Butula Boys 31-0 in the national finals in Nakuru, a repeat victory after 26-05 in the Western Region finals. The Oscar Okaron side finished second after Hanna international of Uganda in the East Africa regional games in Tanzania.

Kakamega County Governor HE Fernandes Odinga Barasa joined Koyonzo Boys Secondary School fraternity in celebrating the milestone achievements made by the Matungu Subcounty institution during this year's second term school games. Koyonzo emerged winners in the Rugby Sevens for Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association held at Nakuru High School in Nakuru County in September and went on to finish first runners-up in the Federation of East Africa Secondary school games held in Arusha, Tanzania the same month.

“The team which comprises of dedicated young men, went against the odds to be crowned the national rugby sevens champions and silver medalists at the East African games in Arusha, Tanzania.” said the Orange Democratic Movement Party Governor.

He also promised to sponsor the students with financial needs and in addition, will create an enabling environment to nurture such talents.

He posted, “My administration will sponsor needy players in the team, as well as create an ecosystem that will allow such talents to be nurtured.”

Area Member of Parliament, Hon Peter Oscar Nabulindo was among the leaders who graced the occasion.
