Celestine Babayaro was born in Lagos Nigeria in 19th August 1978.He is a retired professional player who played as a left back or left midfielder during his playing days at premier league primarily with Chelsea fc.He represented his country Nigeria for 27 times though he did not score for his country across those appearances.He also made over 150 premier league appearances at his stint at Chelsea and Newcastle United.Babayaro represented Nigeria national football from 1995 to 2004.Be was also a Part of two Olympic squads , two world cups squads and 3 African cup of nations squad.

Babayaro began his playing career at Nigerian side Plateau United before moving to Anderlecht back in 1994.He spent 3 years in Galatasary before joining Chelsea back in 1997 as a teenager with a whooping fee of €2.1m.Babayaro set records as the youngest player to be sent off in a champions league match.He was sent off aged 16 years 18 days against Steaua Bucharest.Celestine Babayaro made over 200 appearances for the blues across his time at the club.He spent 8 seasons at the Bridge.

Celestine Babayaro was acquitted of indecent assault in 1999. He laster sued daily star after suggesting he was charged with rape and won the apologies and damages. He was later declared bankrupt in 2011.
