The indomitable Lions bowed out in style with a memorable late victory over five-time world champions, Brazil, thanks to Cameroon national team captain Vincent Aboubakar. However, it wasn't enough for the African team to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
On Friday night, after scoring against Brazil, the Cameroonian captain, Vincent Aboubakar, who was already on yellow, took off his shirt in celebration. He was then dismissed for receiving a second yellow for doing so.
Referee Ismail Elfath was seen respecting Vincent Aboubakar by shaking him and patting his head after showing him the red card.

Football fans and social media users have responded to the USA referee's action of shaking and patting Vincent Aboubakar after showing him the red card. Some have called the gesture one of respect, while others have praised the referee's decency.
