Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala sets a new record by becoming the only ever Kenyan to qualify for 100m semi finals clocking a national record of 10,01 beating his own.
Omanyala has put a smile to Kenyans after performing wonderfully, they now have high hopes that he will be bagging a maiden medal at the Olympics. He becomes the Kenya's fastest man holding the record of 100m.
However his compatriot Mark Otieno was early today disqualified for alleged failed doping test. Just hour before competing in the race.

Earlier this year Ferdinand made it clear that his dream was to compete in Olympics. "It is everybody's dream to compete at the Olympics, I'm so glad to made it, it is my first actually." Said Ferdinand in his qualification to Tokyo Olympics.
All Kenyans are hopeful of qualifying to finals and possibly fetching his first medal and Kenya's first medal in the ongoing competition. Kenya is yet to fetch a medal so far.

Kenya's Marry Morra today also failed to qualify for 800m women after finishing third in the race that ended hours ago.
