Chelsea: Why The Blues Lead the Table, Kante Reveals Secret, Tuchel's Unbreakable Defense

Ngolo Kante

Ngolo Kante recently revealed what Thomas Tuchel told him when he was subbed on during the second half of the game against Tottenham. It should be remembered that Ngolo Kante’s substitution in the second half was the real game-changer in the game because it was at this point that Chelsea started making more progressive attacks against Tottenham’s defense.

“The coach told me to try and win as many duels as I can and play with more force. He said that if we gained more possession of the ball more, then we will most likely create more chances to score. When I got in the game, I did whatever he told me to do and in the end, I managed to score and we won the game by three goals,” he said.

Tight Defense

Chelsea’s defensive record has taken many by surprise, especially in the English Premier League where they have kept more clean sheets (15) than the number of goals they have conceded (14) since Thomas Tuchel took over the club in January. This impressive record has been attributed to the diminutive presence of World-class defenders such as Rudiger and Thiago Silva who are said to be almost impenetrable.

Edouard Mendy has also been very instrumental in keeping clean sheets against opponents because he has always been very receptive when it matters most. Chelsea are currently an unstoppable force in the league and football analysts reckon that any team that will finish above Chelsea will be a Premier League favorite at the end of the season.

Top of the table

The English FA has confirmed that Chelsea are on top of the table ahead of Liverpool because the alphabetical order of the team’s names are being considered. This follows after the two clubs registered the same points and scores in their last five matches. Ideally, head-to-head matches should have been considered in this situation but because they registered the same results in their previous names, alphabetical order seem to have been the optional method to rank the two teams.
