A twenty eight year old lady is being held in police custody with accusations of killing her 12 year old daughter.Both the victim and suspect hail from Transzoia county and the girl is said to have passed on after being beaten with a mwiko by her mother.
According to Transzoia Police Commander Fredrick Ochieng',the mother of the child was angered by her daughter who dissappeared for four days.The deceased girl is said to have gone missing on Friday last week and resurfaced on Monday this week.She is said to have refused going back home due to fear of being caned by her mother.It is reported that she went to the chief of their region who handed over to officers at the Kiminini police post.The mother is said to have come and collected her daughter before they left for home."The report we have is that the girl disappeared from home on April 23 and on Monday, she sought the intervention of the chief to return her home. This is when she was handed over to officers at Kiminini police station," said Trans-Nzoia County Commander Fredrick Ochieng.
At home,it is repoted that the mother took a cooking stick and attacked her daughter beating her up.The family then went to sleep only to wake in Tuesday with the little girl dead.The father of the girl is the one who realised the death of her daughter after he effortlessly tried to wake her up.The Transzoia police boss has said that this was a sad occurrence and urged parents to be tolerant with kids and not administer severe punishment.The suspect is held at the Kiminini Police Post awaiting arraignment in court as investigations continue.
