The house was reduced to ashes

At Ngimari in Embu on Sunday, seven family members perished from burn injuries when their home caught fire. A husband, a wife, their three children and two grandkids are among the deceased.

Embu East deputy county commissioner Jane Waruinge confirmed the occurrence and stated that it happened early on Sunday.

All of our police are on the site and an investigation is being conducted; she added adding that the cause of the incident has not yet been determined.

The most recent occurrence happened just a few weeks after a slew of residential fires that were reported. In the first instance, a 35-year-old man was burned beyond recognition on Saturday, September 10th 2022, in the Kikuyu neighborhood of Kiambu when a fire broke out in his home while he was asleep.

The deceased, named as Michael Ngugi, who lived alone, allegedly came at home while intoxicated and fell asleep as reported by the Star Newspaper.
