KMD Warns of Heavy Downpour This July In These Areas

As the first week of the month of July kicks off, the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) which is tasked with the mandate to update on the timely and climatic conditions in the country, continues to warn the residents of Coast to brace for heavy rainfall this week. This forecast, according to the Department, is valid till July 5, 2022.

Based on the General Weather Outlook shared by Official website of KMD, similar amount of rainfall is expected to continue over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley. However, KMD maintains that the rest of the country is likely to be generally dry throughout the dateline provided.

This will enable most farmers across the country to have ample times to carry out harvesting activities, especially those farmers that planted with the first drops of rainfall at the beginning of March 2022, which marked the start of March-April-May rainfall season.

Over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley as well as over some parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the expected condition of the atmosphere shall be Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions. The same shall be experienced over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley.
