A somber mood engulfed the locals of Kagio village in Kirinyaga county after a man used a kitchen knife to stab his half-year-old daughter to death before attempting to commit suicide after having a small disagreement with his wife.
Abigail Murugi, the deceased succumbed to her injuries on Monday night after her father drove a sharp kitchen knife inside her flesh severally killing her on the spot. It was all well but things turned sour when his wife Grace Wanjiku asked for Ksh2,000 to pay for their house rent. He quickly went for the knife killed the innocent child and went for his throat but things did work out as he intended.
Police officers attached to a nearby police station quickly intervened and rushed the mab to Kerugoya referral hospital, his situation worsened, and was taken to Othaya hospital in Nyeri county where he is fairing well.
According to Mathew Mangira, the police commander in Kirinyaga County, the suspect will be charged with murder and attempted suicide. He urged parents to communicate whenever an issue arises to prevent much trouble.
