The body of a man who was reported missing in Rongo was on Monday found in River Kuja, in Oyombe village, Migori County.
The deceased, Fred Ochieng, aged 32 years, dissappeared on December 26, 2022.
According to his spouse, Nancy Akoth, she dissappeared at home on the said day to grace a burial ceremony of one of their relative and that's the last time she saw him in public.
“I came back home few days after from the burial service, but I never found him at home, only for his body to be pulled out in the river few days later,” said Akoth.
“My spouse prior to his death was in good moods when I went back home, he asked to give him Sh100, which I send to him before left,” she added.
She added: “I believed that he went to see his relatives in the nearby villages, only to get wind that his body had been pulled out in the river.”
According to his brother, Maurice Otieno, the deceased may have slipped and drowned while trying to cross the river.
“My brother liked alcohol and I believed that he may have fell down and drowned into the river,” said Otieno.
The body of the deceased was transferred to the hospital mortuary awaiting.
Oyombe village elder Mr. Charles Owuor commented on the incident, adding that they were probing the incident from Rongo Sub County.
