Sad: Woman Dies After KPLC Electric Pole Falls on Her

A woman has died after an electric pole belonging to the Kenya Power and Lightning Company (KPLC) fell on her.

According to sources, the woman was passing by as KPLC staff were uprooting the pole for replacement at the time of incident.

"Woman dies after an electric pole fell on her while walking to board a matutu at the stage in Mwariki, Nakuru County," read part of the report.

Kenya Power has been replacing the old wooden poles with more durable concrete poles across the country.

The incidence comes a few weeks after another incident was reported in Nairobi where two electric poles and transformers fell on the road with one crashing a PSV bus.

KPLC staffs have occasionally been accused of carelessness following a number of accidents resulting from work negligence. Most of the accidents emanate from loosely fixed live wires, bursting of transformers and falling of weak electric poles.
