Illicit brew convict escaped into the nearby thicket while at working at prison’s garden in Embu main prison
Police in Embu county are now searching for the detainee who is still at large.
The suspect reportedly went missing while at the correctional facility’s garden for their routine jobs.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect fled under unknown circumstances by prison staffs who were with them.
He allegedly escaped into the nearby thicket.
A prison staff who spoke to the press revealed that the suspect was a convict of illicit liquor.
The incident has been attributed to negligence and ignorance by prison wardens who were supervising the detainees.
The latest development comes barely three months when three terror convicts also flee from Kamiti correctional facility.
Their escape led to the sacking of Commissioner-general of prison Wycliffe Ogallo.
