3 Youngsters Killed In Gruesome Road Crash

Two young men and a woman were killed in a crash on Lang'ata Road, Nairobi on Tuesday morning. All three were killed when a Subaru car lost control and rolled several meters from the gates of Nairobi National Park.

"Two gentlemen and a woman died instantly," said Leonard Katana, Nairobi's deputy transport director. A fourth passenger survived, suffering only bruises in the crash, which police believe happened around 5 a.m., when the young man is believed to have returned home from an overnight exploit. Police identified the dead as Duncan Marenya, Peter Omondi while the young woman's name was only given as Venna.

Marenya, who is believed to have driven the vehicle, runs a beauty salon on Ngong Road. The wreckage of the maroon Subaru was towed to the yard of the Lang'ata Police Department, where friends and relatives flocked to see. "I was with them last night on the way to Lang'ata.

We were supposed to go out, but because of commitments I apologized and left," said one of their friends. I was lucky to be alive because I was in the back seat but I got out of the car after drinking with them on the way to Ngong," said the friend, who asked to remain anonymous.

A police officer who was among those at the scene of the tragic accident told News media that they found all the bodies a few meters away from the wreckage.

“They must have been ejected immediately. The fourth passenger was lucky to have survived because by the time the vehicle landed, he was still sitting in the left rear seat," the official said. Police said they would investigate whether any or all four of the men were intoxicated because a bottle of beer was found in the vehicle. The key is still in the ignition, although the loss of control may be due to the impact of the collision
